Start with the sampling requirement
Before choosing equipment, define whether the site needs grab samples, composite samples, first-flush samples, or event-based sampling. A simple outfall may only need bottles, pole samplers, labels, gloves, and a clean cooler. A remote or high-flow outfall may need an automatic sampler, intake tubing, a strainer, battery power, and a secure enclosure.
