Data Loggers and Telemetry

Data loggers and telemetry systems turn field measurements into useful records for compliance, operations, troubleshooting, and long-term water-system management.

What data loggers do

A data logger records measurements from sensors such as water level, flow, rainfall, temperature, conductivity, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, or pressure. The value of the logger is not just storing data; it creates a consistent time history that can be reviewed after storms, operations events, or treatment-system changes.

Telemetry options

  • Cellular telemetry for remote dashboards and alerts.
  • Radio or wireless links for local site networks.
  • Manual download for low-cost or periodic programs.
  • Cloud dashboards for trend review, alarms, and reporting.

Selection checklist

  1. Confirm the sensor inputs and logging interval.
  2. Check battery life, enclosure rating, mounting, and site access.
  3. Plan calibration, maintenance, downloads, and data backups.
  4. Decide whether alerts, remote dashboards, or only local storage are needed.
  5. Use field notes to explain gaps, fouling, flooding, maintenance, or unusual readings.
